TEHRAN (PIN) – Official in charge of building installations at Pars Petrochemical Port announced that construction of docks has been finished and they are ready for use.

Homayun Sadr told PIN that development of docks 8 and 9 was underway and would be finished in the next two months.

“Docks 7 and 13, which are specified to containers have been equipped with cranes and ship loaders and the two docks which are special to export of solids are ready for inauguration,” he added.

Sadr further noted that docks 1 and 2 of Pars Petrochemical port which pertain to Phase 2 of petrochemical projects in Pars Special Economic Energy Zone are ready for use, but their inauguration would be postponed until after inauguration of the Phase 2 of petrochemical projects.

“Since the beginning of the current year, about 200,000 tons of methanol have been exported through Dock 5 and about 40,000-50,000 tons of Borzuyeh Petrochemical Complex’s products have been exported through the same dock,” he added.

The official added that liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports from phases 4 and 5 of South Pars gas field are carried out through Dock 14 which has also exported 25,000 tons of ammonia to Scandinavian countries including Norway and Sweden, Canada, China, and South Korea.

“Every 15-18 days a shipload comprising 50,000 tons of liquefied natural gas is loaded by a ship from phases 4 and 5 of South Pars gas field for exports,” he noted.

Sadr added that thus far two consignments have entered the port carrying needed materials for Borzuyeh Petrochemical Complex and their transfer occurred about 1.5 months ago.
